Congratulations on receiving a BSAVA PetSavers’ grant!
This section provides information on what happens next after you have been awarded BSAVA PetSavers’ funding, including your responsibilities as an award holder and how to contact us.
If you have any questions, please contact us at: email@example.com
When you are first awarded BSAVA PetSavers’ funding, you will receive a letter requesting your project start date and a digital image to help us publicise your study.
We require regular written reports to help us follow the progress of your project and ensure that it meets its aims. These reports will be monitored by the grants awarding committee, and you may be contacted about queries relating to progress, deviations, expenditure, or completing within the original timescale. The frequency of the reports is outlined in your grant terms and conditions, but has been standardised to every 6 months for grants awarded from 2020 onwards. A final report is also required within 6 months of the completion deadline. In the case of SRP grants awarded from 2020, only a final report is needed.
While we understand that scientific developments may lead to a need to modify the aims and directions of the project, we must be consulted promptly and fully prior to any proposed changes to the original application and reserve the right to withhold further funding should we consider the divergence to be too great. We also require reports to be submitted on time, and may withhold further funding or restrict your application for future BSAVA PetSavers’ grants if reports are not kept up-to-date.

Grant end dates are determined by the start date of a grant and the duration agreed with BSAVA PetSavers when it is awarded. Project reports are the main way we can keep track of projects and make sure that they complete within the proposed grant period. However, it is imperative that you inform us of any delays to your project, whether related to individuals, equipment, case recruitment, or other. This includes delays pertaining to Covid-19.
We will actively support and encourage you to complete your projects in good time and on budget. Requests for no-cost extensions should be made to firstname.lastname@example.org and will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the grants awarding committee.
The invoice schedule is outlined in your grant terms and conditions. For grants awarded from 2020 onwards, the timing has been standardised to:
- 75% of costs upfront and when a letter confirming the project start date has been received
- 25% of costs upon completion of the project and once a final project report has been received
The timing of invoices for projects awarded before 2020 is largely dependent on the length of the project.
Please ask your finance department to email invoices to email@example.com quoting the project reference number provided in your grant decision letter.
Publications arising from the project
The Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP) is published on behalf of the BSAVA and is also the official scientific journal of the WSAVA. In accordance with grant terms and conditions, all papers directly arising from a BSAVA PetSavers’ grant should be considered for submission in JSAP, or discussed with the Editor of JSAP via firstname.lastname@example.org to determine if they are suitable for publication there before submission elsewhere.
We also require an article for our Companion magazine to be written during the grant period upon request.
We ask you to tell us of any submissions and acceptances of publications based wholly or partly upon the research funded by your BSAVA PetSavers’ grant. Please send us an electronic copy of any such publications (via email@example.com).
Work supported by our grants should be described in publications as “BSAVA PetSavers (Co)-funded” or “This work was supported by BSAVA PetSavers (grant number xxxx)”, as appropriate.
We are happy to provide you with a JPEG version of the BSAVA PetSavers logo for use on material related to the project, such as conference posters, project publicity, or owner consent forms. However, its use is prohibited in advertising and activities of outside organisations when this is likely to be understood as an endorsement, even if such an endorsement is not the intention of the person or organisation using the logo or name. Therefore, please always ask via firstname.lastname@example.org for permission to use it.
